Our Restoration Process
A Proven System

Upon being called to the job site, an introduction of our company is made to the insured by means of a brochure describing our services and proceeding process. We want the insured to feel confident and comfortable with this process. We understand that the situation can be a traumatic experience and major inconvenience for them. Proper appearance and communication–namely uniformed representatives who are courteous, sympathetic and well trained–are imperative for conveying a high level of professionalism. An experienced representative can help the insured understand the benefits of restoration and have them feel relieved that they can avoid the hassle of having to shop for new items.

A GreenClean trained professional conducts a room-by-room assessment of the loss including pictures, documentation and a complete inventory. Beyond saving time for the adjuster, such an inventory provides a reliable record of a home’s contents and ensures that the homeowner acknowledges what items leave the house. This inventory can reduce customer complaints by preventing most problems from occurring, as it identifies all of the affected items–with details on description and pre-existing conditions–and eliminates any potential discrepancy about the item’s value.

The representative also explains to the insured that they will need to identify at least two weeks of clothing for each member of the house as "rush" so that we may clean and return these items to them within 48 hours. This enables the adjuster to reduce additional living expenses by limiting the insured on the amount of new clothes that need to be purchased, if any.

Once at our facility the contents are individually tagged and placed in our odour eating, ultra-violet chamber where they will stay for 24 to 72 hours depending on the severity of the claim. Reports are sent to the insurance adjuster and/or contractor and a preliminary estimate on restoration cost is given. All claims are cleaned separately from other losses as not to cross contaminate different types of damage.

Our facility is 100% Wet Cleaning plant. Wet Cleaning is an alternative to dry cleaning using water as its main solvent. Wet Cleaning has been proven to clean up to 20% more smoke and water damaged garments over dry cleaning. This results in fewer items being deemed unrecoverable therefore saving the insurance company money in payouts. A wet-cleaned garment also smells and feels a lot better than any dry-cleaned garment reducing the amount of complaints from insured’s about awkward smells that were not there prior to the loss. These smells are usually just traces of the dry-cleaning solvent Perchloroethylene (Perc) still in the garment. Since this method of cleaning is also 100% environmentally friendly people feel more comfortable in trusting us with their possessions.

The cleaning process first begins with an inspection for stains and/or loss related marks (smoke lines, dye migration, mold, etc.) that are then pre-spotted and processed. After cleaning, garments are professionally finished by properly trained specialists that are always looking out for damaged garments or stains that may have to be revisited or considered damaged. No extra charges are charged for revisiting stains. If we believe there is a chance of recovery, we will process the item as many times as needed until the stain is out. At this point, the garment goes through its final inspection and is packaged and assembled with other garments that have been recovered from the same room or area of the house.

Visitation from the insured is encouraged when everything is completed. The insured can inspect all contents in one of our viewing rooms for approval and acceptance. The client chooses if they would like things delivered or held in our storage facility until their residence is ready.
